Introduction
CMCS which is call Central Monitoring and Control System. It is a
system that allows operators to check the operational status and
control the system or individual device manually by predefined
program. It can be placed in any places which just only need to have
the network covered. Operators can then just stay at a place to
check and control the whole system.
Technology
CMCS includes Sensors and Electromechanical Devices, Remote Terminal
Units (RTUs), Communication Links, and Central Computers. Sensors
and electromechanical devices are connected to
RTUs to provide
various operational and status data inputs.
RTUs also are the role
to control the equipments or devices. Central computers are
responsible for monitoring the data or status which reported from
RTUs. It is also able to send control commands to be executed by the
RTUs. Communication links between
RTUs, and between central
computers and RTUs, provide data linkage to allow the components
talk to each other. The links can be wired lines or wireless
communication.
Features
-
Graphical interface
CMCS provides
user-friendly graphical interface for displaying the
dynamic/static graphs, data, curves, flow diagrams,
configuration graph of detected points.
-
System Management
Operator can manage the whole system easily. Different parameter
settings, schedules or operation configuration can be assigned
from central computer. Diagnostic of whole system also provides
operators to easy understanding the health status of system.
-
Data Logging and Reporting
CMCS can
also do the data logging to record critical data for reporting
and analysis. It can associate with printer, email, pager, etc.,
to provide real time reporting monitored parameters or alarms.
-
Alarm Handling
Any alarm or
fault can be displayed graphics or text through monitoring
display or mobile devices. It can provide detail information of
alarm, such as types, locations, time, etc., for operator taking
action to solve problem or clear the alarms.
-
Wide Range Remote Operation
Operator
can remotely control field devices through CMCS. The remote
operation can be done wherever which the communication network
covered. It reduces time and manpower to go the field area for
controlling the devices.
